Garo hill has two parks, Nokrek and Balpakram, where you can venture out into some of the region’s most beautiful and unique landscape.
Balpakram National Park If you drive from Tura, it takes about 4 to 5 hours, depending on the conditions of the road. You can stay at the visiting centre. Next morning the forest guards will guide you to the actual park. Much of it is covered with thick, and lush green forests. This park is unspoilt natural where you can try everything from picnics, wild camping and campfires, to bird and animal watching. It is not free to access. You have to get permission from forest office as it is a habitat for animals and plants. Its natural beauty will leave you wanting for more. This park has a visitor centre for holding the night and with ideas for how to get the most out of your visit and with details on park guides. You have to explore the park on foot. Check the signs when you enter to find details and regulations. It features a rich diversity of flora and fauna.
